Gordon Jackson

Postby Bob_H » Fri Sep 14, 2012 12:44 pm

I'm sorry to pass on the news that Gordon died on 12th September.

Gordon (DoB 22/8/1932) completed his service in Tidworth around 1970/71 and moved back to his home area near Durham. He was married to Colleen Jackson and they had 7 children.

Friend of daughter Colleen, Lynn, writes: "He was a lovely man and I am sure those who remember him will want to know".

Details of his funeral are (in young Colleen's words) .... "Wednesday (19 Sept) at 3pm Durham Crem, we have the vicar coming today to sort out the service, dad wasn't a flower person so we are saying if anyone would prefer to make a donation instead of flowers the money will go to the British Heart Foundation ............ really nice letting the old regiment know .......... if you would like to put anything on on our behalf that would be lovely thank you i will tell mum and i know she will also be happy for you to do so, mum has often wondered about people from way back...."

Our very sincere condolences go to Colleen and the family.

Gordon had an accident in Sennelager/Schloss Neuhaus which resulted in a limp as I recall. From then onwards he served in Mt & HQ Sqn roles. Was his nickname not "Carlsberg", or was that another Jackson?
