Another one gone.Bill was my first Trp Sgt when I joined the Regt in early 74 straight from the junior factory, with his dry wit,no nonsense approach to soldiering and recall of important facts such as how many Herforder you could fit up a Scorpion barrel. You don't meet many like Bill in a lifetime. If there is a God I'm sure he's glad to meet Bill. My deepest sympathy to his family.

Billy

Postby Ron Flowers » Sat Jul 19, 2008 4:53 pm

Like everybody else I am very sad to hear of Billy's passing.

I was his troop Cpl when he talked the regimental officers into sending him on a diving holiday to Cyprus to join D Squadron.
When he turned up all that was in his MFO was his diving gear

The Provo's loss was definately our gain. A brilliant bloke nothing ever phased him.

My condolences to his family at this very sad time.

Cheers Ron

So so very sad to hear of Billys passing. I con only reiterate whats been said before, he was one of the nicest ,fairest and funniest men its been my pleasure to serve with. He was my vehicle commander on Scorpions a long time age , same time as Quaz, and I worked with him in Bovvi SQMS
dept in the late 70s.
He always ready with advice if you wanted it but would never force it on you if you didn't. A great leader. A great bloke . A good true friend.

My condolences to all his family, he will be greatly missed.

DENNY AND I CANNOT EASILY EXPRESS OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY, AND SHOCK, AT BILLS FINAL POSTING.
HE WAS A REAL HERO TO MANY, NEVER FAILING TO AMUSE, ADVISE, OVERCOME ALL LIFE"S DIFFICULTIES, AND MOST OF ALL BULLY US IN A WAY IN WHICH WE ALL LOVED AND RESPECTED HIM.
HE WAS THE MAN TO HAVE BY YOUR SIDE IN A TIGHT CORNER, AND NOT SEEING BILLY AT THE RE-UNIONS WILL SEEM VERY STRANGE.
OUR SINCERE CONDOLENCES TO HIS FAMILY
"GONE BUT NEVER TO BE FORGOTTEN"

With everything said and done, I can only think of one cliché
” THEY BROKE THE MOULD” when Billy Woodcock was put on this earth. Our lives have been all the better for knowing him – and for me the hilarious things he did and said will stay until it’s my time to fly.

FLY HIGH BILLY, God Bless

Condolences to the family left behind
