A discussion has been started by Darryl Cartwright on Facebook about the only monument to 14/20th KH that is currently in the National Arboretum. The general opinion so far is that it is not suitable and should be replaced by something else, I also think we should try to improve it.

I have tried to attach a picture of it, as it is now and hopefully it will show when I post this.

I believe this is a project worthy of Noah's Arks attention and I also believe that this will have to be done by us and will probably require a separate funding drive.

Thoughts please
Regards to all

Is this all regiments are allowed ??.What do other regiments have.
If all members put £10 in Im sure we could come up with something better.
Going on hols tonight so cant keep up with this for 2 weeks.

Hi all, as Johnny has said, I visited the NMA at the end of July.
I saw some amazing memorials, but after hours of asking staff and searching, I came across a rather disappointing tribute to a great regiment!

Please email me (darrylcartwright@btinternet.com) if you would like to be added to my distribution list for further information and to hopefully, have our own memorial erected.

Thanks, Darryl.

We spent a couple of days in Nottingham with Reg Furlong two weeks ago and called in at the Memorial on our way back, our second visit. My thoughts were exactly the same, especially after seeing the memorials for the 10H, 11H and the Lancers etc. I tried to find out how to go about getting better memorial there but haven't had much luck so far. I do NOT intend any disrespect to the KRH but my 22 years were with the 14/20 so if possible I would like a memorial for my regiment , something similar to the 10H AND 11H will do fine. That will no doubt mean that the cost will have to be borne by us not the current regimental PRI. I am more than willing to contribute. If and when I do get a reply from Alrewas regarding placing a memorial I'll put it on here.

As a long serving Hawk I also agree with all the comments so far am perfectly willing to contribute to a suitable memorial of substance to create an impression within the Arboretum regulations that portrays the respect of our fallen comrades from the past.
Mick.

And me. great idea.
It is not just the oxen, that pulls the cart up the hill. But the birds that build there nests in the trees.

Count me in also.
I am down at the NMA next week with a few mates. This is my second visit went last year with Geof Hutchinson and Jim Harrison it is very moving.
I do know from being a member of the Junior Leaders OBA that actually getting something set up and the cost is quite a long winded operation they have been looking into it for the paste 18 months with varying success.
If who ever takes this forward is interested I could give you the details of the guy who is dealing with it as a project for JLRRAC who may be able to guide them through some of the pitfalls.

Cheers Ron
