This was taken around September of 1971 in Hong Kong, I (George Bissell) was driving, and the ladies are HRH Princess Anne, and her Lady in waiting Lady Mary Dowry, but I can't remember the Captain's name, any help would be appreciated.

Peter Vickery. Brilliant officer, was also with B Sqn (2nd troop) in 1966 Perham Down, on conversion to Centurions. His crew at the time was Ginge Fry - driver, Pete "Pinky" Lomas - Gunner and myself Radio op, he then went to Army Air Corps returning to B Sqn in Paderborn and (B Sqn 2 i/c in this photo ?)

Brian, My first thought was Vickery and then I convinced myself otherwise. Quite right, Clifford had fair hair.

Bob

If you have access to the Hawk Journals, in the 1967 Journal, page 23 has a group photo of the polo playing subalterns Clifford, Bowles, Davis and Clifford. B Sqn polo team. I remember that Peter Vickery was a very keen horseman.

Wish I had been issued with denims tailored to fit like HRH's lady in waiting had.

Hi Solly,
You would have needed the body for that, and then you would have been in trouble!!!

Singe,

Get you Ducky !

When I joined the regiment in Benghazi, the first (1 pair) of denims I was issued with were to fit a guy 6ft to 6ft 6" and chest size 46" +. The Indian tailor on camp just chopped a piece, about 10", out of the middle and stitched the two halves back together. I used to have to roll the excess up around the back to make them look anything like normal from the front. Hence, the jealousy on her well tailored denims.
