Re: Good investment

Bill

Does your suggestion help you "Lose" weight or make your weight "Loose" ? Can't imagine what carrying Loose weight would do for us.

Just me being pedantic.

Re: 1919 to 1939 do we never learn

Bill My point on the trilogy was not any current threat, but the waste of UK troops in a situation that could possibly have happened, initiated by a power hungry high ranking military commander. After all, the books are pure fiction and I'm sure the author didn't serve in an armoured regiment. Howev...

Re: 1919 to 1939 do we never learn

Read the fictitious trilogy by Harvey Black. The Red Effect, The Black Effect and The Blue effect. This trilogy portrays an attack on the West by the Soviets. 14th/20th armour is heavily featured. The scenario painted doesn't inspire any confidence in Western defences, and my conclusion was get out ...

Re: Charlie Anthony Cornes RIP

His real name was Anthony Francis Cornes, "Charlie" was a nickname given by members of the regiment and stuck. Visiting him on Tuesday afternoon in Pendle Community Hospital, I asked a nurse on the ward where I could find Tony Cornes, she looked at me blankly and only when I said "He ...

Tony "Charlie" Cornes In Hospital

Charlie has been transferred from Blackburn General Hospital to Pendle Community Hospital, Marsden Ward where he is slowly recovering from a stress related problem.

If anyone is around that area, I'm sure he'd appreciate a visit and a different topic of conversation.

Re: GALA Meal

Paul Having sent you a cheque for three attending the Gala Night and noticing that the cheque has been cashed, can you tell me what the form is, confirmation or just turn up and hope that everything is sorted. Wouldn't like us to turn up and be told "Sorry there's no booking for you three"...

Re: new beer

How many pints is that Bob ? EDIT - Just had a look on't'tinternet and discovered that a cubit is not a volume measurement but a measurement of length based on forearm length. So would need to know not only the length, but also breadth and depth of the hull. Going to see if I can find some old plans...

Re: George Maggs

I last spoke to George on New Years Day, and apart from being virtually confined to home and being attended to by a carer, George mentally was in fine form. A man who had an interesting past, never short of a new story. I'm sure that he will be sadly missed by many who knew him better than I. at lea...
