Re: Alf Angel RIP

Another great Hawk gone. The Regimental Parade thins out on this side of the great divide, and gets ever bigger on the other side. RIP Alf.

George Smith

Does anyone know if George ('C' Sqn Cpl/Troop Sgt and Regimental Gunnery Instructor), originally from Liverpool, and who loved his daily visit to the bookies, is still around??
As dry as a crispy leaf, but funny as hell. Great bloke.

Difficult to imagine a reunion without him being there. My first memory of Danny is him in the boxing ring in Paderborne for D'Arcy Hall boxing.

I remember that as well. :?

RIP Danny my condolences to his family and friends. A big guy with a big heart.

04 EB 68

I arrived at The Regiment in early 1969, just before the Libyan exercise. When the Regiment returned, I signed for 04 EB 68, first troop, 'C' Sqn, a monster responsibility to a kid of 19. Our old Centurions were 'mothballed', on the back road, (and sold to Israel, I think). 04EB68 was the Troop Sgts...

Re: Padders

Yes, the rumour was that they bundled a couple of the stag into it before they drove it in........  Just out of interest, got the place up on Google Earth last night. The pool is now filled in, with a basketball court built over it. Maybe everyone goes down town to swim these days, at...

Padders

Anyone remember this? Our 'swimming pool' at Barker Barracks. Ronnie Evens, (A Sqn) on the right, cant remember the other two. Just found this in a load of stuff ready for throwing. Happy days. :D

Re: Just To Say......

Hi Mac, Yes mate, that's how I found out myself. Passed my first one, but two years later I showed positive, so it's well worth taking the trouble to mess around with the kit. Saw the surgeon last Friday. If I hadn't picked up on this, he said life span would have been between two and five years. Da...

Re: Just To Say......

Thanks Bill, wise words indeed. And I take on board your comments about sugar, however, the hospital has suggested that I increase my salt intake since the op. Must be a colostomy thing, but I will certainly ask them about that.
