Bill,

Re: HERMAN THE GERMAN

No Bill it intrigues me that these people have been so reviled and regularly slaughtered in the frequent pogroms that have occurred in Europe, and they are looked down on in America. WHY? That's all. Nobody has yet given me a rational, answer.

Re: HERMAN THE GERMAN

Bill, my first visit to the place was in May 1959, a few days after I arrived in BAOR and joined RHQ in Hohne. Although at the time it was a beautiful spring day, as you say, there were no birds evident at all. As we all were, we were told various stories about the place, but I have since read the s...

Re: HERMAN THE GERMAN

Hi Bil and Sammy, first on the point I made about ghosts hurting people. Feb 1959, Bourlon Lines, Catterick. In Basic training and the first few nights in a 8 man barrack room, after lights out. Someone started to tell a ghost story, then another and another. It was in an L shape, with 4 bed spaces ...

Re: HERMAN THE GERMAN

Hi Yall, Must admit never having experienced a an event featuring a supernatural entity I can't comment. But I will say that I have never read, heard or any other form of communication which has said that a 'ghost' has ever harmed anyone, therefore if anyone is scared of ghosts there is no need to t...

Re: Done and dusted

Bill, One who didn't fit into either 'bad' or 'couldn't hack the system' was one of our favourites from C Sqn, Rotty Morris. In Hohne he heard his ex (I think) Mrs had taken up with a fellow who was battering his kids. Naturally he went AWOL. System was, in those days that they were given 24 hrs to ...

Re: Done and dusted

Hi Bill, wasn't it mentioned on the site in the dim and distant past about a Tpr Painter, who stole a Stalwart and went absent. Motored all the way across BAOR filling up at Bundeswehr camps, with the story that his Sergeant was following and would sign for it. His intention being to drive across th...

Stalwarts All,( Not the ones in the Saladin range of APCs) of course it should be kept going by whoever. Although I don't contribute submissions to every topic I do read them with interest THEN open F/B. Love to read Bill's contributions and do so miss Quassie's copious submissions. Love Bodge's jok...

Re: Where are our Tanks

Mick,
I came to an answer to your question 'Is there a god out there somewhere?' It is a big fat, emphatic NO!!!!

Look after Marion and give her all our love. You keep yourself safe, although that seems to be a given, in your part of the country.

Re: Safe ?

Bill, It was a terrible, terrible event. Unfortunately/fortunately, depending on your view of these things, the rhetoric of all the pundits on the TV news in Australia seems to be changing from Political Correctness to some of the language a redneck like me would use. So dreadful as it was some good...

Re: Where are our Tanks

Bill, Sammy and Mick, Oh! what pipe dreams we all have. Can anybody tell me how the neutral nations, Switzerland, Sweden and others managed it. What did they do to achieve such a status? Why can't the UK do it. Yes I know that these countries also have an Army, lets face it the Swiss Army all have k...

Re: Orwell and a bag of worms ...

Bill, in your last BIG post above you mentioned the ability of the Chinese to build cities in next to no time. Can't help equating them to ants. When I was there in 1971, looking over the border at any spot, possibly with the exception Lo Wu (where the Canton/Kowloon railway line went into China) an...

Paul, first let me say thank you and the Administrator, but mainly you, who managed to sort out the enormous tangle of getting me back on the site under my own name, Thank you. Secondly, Congratulations on your impending move to the USA. Thank you for all you have done to, and for the site during yo...

Re: interesting

I could not agree more with sentiments so eloquently put.
I had determined to never watch, or listen to these people again, but this gives me the right to be entertained so I can go back to my computer or TV.
BRAVO to whoever wrote this.
